چکیده

Sour orange (Citrus aurantium L.), which belongs to the Rutaceae family, is used around Mediterranean Sea for ornamental and agronomic purposes as a rootstock Citrus species. Peels flowers, most-used parts of L., have constituted largely promising area research their many medicinal properties. However, leaves sour not yet been studied extensively. The present study aimed at investigating essential oil composition grown in Algeria determining antioxidant anti-inflammatory Essential harvested before flowering was determined by GC-MS. Total phenol content, activities (DPPH) elastase collagenase inhibition were assessed. Forty-three volatile compounds detected from with yield 0.57%. major linalool, linalyl acetate ?-Terpineol. Results show that total content activity are low, 3.48 ± 0.10 mg/g (Gallic Acid Equivalent/EO) IC50 > 10,000 mg·L?1, respectively. In contrast, EO an interesting level inhibition. This result emphasizes potential interest mainly relation its anti-aging mechanism.

Anxiolytic and sedative effects of extracts and essential oil from Citrus aurantium L.

Citrus aurantium L. is commonly used as an alternative treatment for insomnia, anxiety and epilepsy. Essential oil from peel (EOP) and hydroethanolic (70% w/v) extract (HE) from leaves were obtained. Hexanic (HF), dichloromethanic (DF) and final aqueous (AF) fractions were obtained from HE by successive partitions. Swiss male mice (35-45 g) were treated orally with 0.5 or 1.0 g/kg of these prep...
